Why Doing the Hard Thing Often Leads to the Right Thing
Most people avoid hard things.
They procrastinate on the conversation.
They sidestep the challenge.
They wait until they “feel ready.”
But here’s the truth:
The path to leadership, growth, and impact is rarely easy and it shouldn’t be.
When I was ranked as one of the top long snappers in the country, I still wasn’t getting calls from coaches.
Not because I lacked skill but because I was legally blind.
So I picked up the phone. Cold-called coaches. Showed up on campuses. Waited in offices.
I didn’t wait for permission. I created opportunity.
That mindset didn’t just help me become the first legally blind athlete to play in a Division I football game, it’s what helps me create change today.
The uncomfortable path is usually the one worth taking.
If you’re facing something hard right now a decision, a conversation, a setback, lean into it.
Don’t run from discomfort. Use it.
You don’t need to have all the answers.
You just need to take the next step.
Whatever challenge you're staring down right now, remember this:
You don’t have to be fearless. You just have to move forward anyway.
