The Power of Small Wins

We all love big goals.

Closing the deal. Winning the championship. Landing the promotion. Hitting the revenue number.

Those are the milestones everyone talks about.

They’re flashy. They’re exciting. They get headlines.

But here’s what people forget, big goals don’t happen in one leap.

They’re built through the small, often boring wins that stack up day after day.

Think about training for a marathon. You don’t wake up one morning and magically run 26 miles.

You run one. Then three. Then five.

The growth comes in the training runs no one sees.

The mornings when it’s raining, and you lace up anyway. The nights when you’d rather be on the couch, but you put in the work.

Leadership is no different.

Culture doesn’t transform overnight. Confidence doesn’t appear after one motivational meeting. Trust doesn’t come from a single retreat.

They build through small actions:

Checking in with a teammate who’s been quiet.

Writing the thank-you note nobody expected.

Choosing to have a tough conversation instead of avoiding it.

Following through on the little promises.

When you stack enough small wins, momentum builds. And momentum is powerful.

Morale improves. Confidence grows. Teams start to believe not just in the goal, but in themselves.

The danger is that most people overlook these wins.

They dismiss them because they don’t look impressive in the moment. But the truth is, without them, the big wins don’t happen at all.

Here’s my challenge:

Take 10 minutes and write down three small wins from the past week. Do the same with your team. You’ll be surprised how much energy shifts when progress is noticed instead of ignored.

Small wins aren’t small. They’re the foundation of everything.

If your team needs a speaker who can reframe resilience and growth through small wins, let’s talk.
