Owning Mistakes

We all make commitments. Some are small, some are big, but they all matter.

I made a commitment to myself and to all of you, every Wednesday, I’d send out this newsletter. A moment to share thoughts, lessons, and ideas that keep us grounded and growing.

And this week? I missed it.

I had a few big events, some travel, and before I knew it, Wednesday came and went. I didn’t finish the newsletter in time, and it went out on Thursday instead.

It’s a simple mistake, but it’s my mistake.

The easy thing would be to make excuses. The better thing is to own it.

When we make commitments, whether to our teams, our families, or ourselves, it’s not about being perfect. It’s about being accountable. It’s about saying, “I dropped the ball,” instead of pretending we didn’t.

Owning our mistakes doesn’t make us weak, it shows integrity. It builds trust. It reminds people that we take our word seriously, even when we fall short.

So, this week’s reminder is simple:

Don’t hide from your mistakes. Own them, learn from them, and keep moving forward.

Because accountability is leadership in action.

If this resonated, forward it to someone who could use the reminder today.
